The Air Puffer
Inspired by a the jacket from my childhood, I created The Air Puffer that plays with overexaggerated scale and adolescent growing pains. I hand-beaded circular appliques that represent embellished versions of the duct tape I slapped on the original puffer as it decayed due to wear. By installing fans into the garment that cause it to inflate with air, I ensured no notion of silhouette could be seen underneath the jacket. There is an element of homogeneity that is displayed when we wear puffer jackets. No one's body is visible and therefore no one's body can be judged or scrutinized.
